Millport Pride is on Saturday 12 September 2026 on the Isle of Cumbrae, and it is the first one the island has held. The march assembles at Kames Bay from noon and sets off at 12:30. Our event page has the outline. This is the practical side of it.
The route runs along the front from Kames Bay to Millport Pier, about a mile on flat ground and a walk of thirty to forty minutes at the pace it will go. It is a walking event: no floats, cars, buses or trailers take part, and vehicles brought over on the ferry have to be parked before anyone joins in. Aside from the trishaws, the procession is people on foot, wheelchair users and other things that are not driven.
Marching is free but groups have to register beforehand, and any group of six or more must supply its own marshal to walk with it. Millport Pride has arranged trishaw rides through Cycling Without Age for anyone who cannot manage the mile, booked with them directly rather than through the Pride. First aiders will be on the route and the marshals can point them out.
The Pride Market runs from 13:00 to 15:00 at Garrison House on Glasgow Street, in the middle of the town and about 400 metres from the pier, with community stalls and the youth zone in the same building. A quiet space is set up in the Cumbrae Forum Hub, roughly 100 metres from the pier. Both have level access and the accessible toilets are at the Garrison. The youth and families zones are staffed by North Ayrshire Council youth work staff, with the families area expecting parents and carers to stay with their children. Pubs along the front run their own entertainment, and nothing on this seafront is far from anything else.
Getting there is the part worth planning. The ferry from Largs to Cumbrae Slip takes about ten minutes and runs every twenty, but vehicle space is first come, first served, so a car on Pride day means a queue. Buses meet the sailings for the four miles into Millport, and the slope up from the ferry to the bus stop is steep, more so at low tide. Millport Motors buses are wheelchair accessible and stop at Kames Bay, following the march route to their terminus at the pier. Largs is 56 minutes by train from Glasgow. The organisers ask people to watch the last sailing back rather than end up on the island overnight.
