The Marsz Równości in Lublin returns on Saturday 17 October 2026. It is the seventh in the city, organised by the association Stowarzyszenie Unia Równości, and it marches under a line borrowed from the Union of Lublin of 1569: "Wolne z wolnymi, równe z równymi", free with the free, equal with the equal.
The route
According to the route reported by Spotted Lublin on 21 September, the march gathers between about 14:30 and 15:00 on the square in front of the Centrum Kultury at ul. Peowiaków 12, on ul. Hugo Kołłątaja. It then runs along ul. Zesłańców Sybiru, Krakowskie Przedmieście, ul. Lipowa and ul. Gabriela Narutowicza, and comes back by Zesłańców Sybiru to where it started. It is a loop through the centre, new for this edition, and drivers should expect roads to be closed for the afternoon.
The organisers' demands, as published in August, are that the state recognise the marriages of LGBTIQ+ people and the rights that follow from them, that trans and non-binary people be protected in their documents, and that queer people have safe access to education and health care.
Around the march
On the same day the association sets up a Miasteczko Równości, an equality village in two parts: a social zone for organisations and initiatives working on human rights and against discrimination, where nothing is sold, and a fair where local queer artists and makers show and sell their own work. An official afterparty follows in the evening.
Both belong to Kultura dla Równości, the cultural programme that runs alongside the march and opened on 29 September with a film screening at the Dom Kultury LSM. Lublin's mayor, Krzysztof Żuk, placed that programme under his honorary patronage. The march itself did not receive it, which the organisers said openly when they announced the patronage.
In the city
The route passes ul. Lipowa, where Biblioteka Azyl keeps a queer library of more than a thousand books at number 13 and runs book clubs, exhibitions and workshops. It is the one place in Lublin we list.
Poland
Poland scores 21.5 of 100 on ILGA-Europe's Rainbow Index. Same-sex couples have had no form of legal recognition there, which is why marriage recognition heads the list of demands. Our Poland page covers where the law stands, including the government's draft bill on registered partnerships.
