The seventh Fahrrad Pride Potsdam goes ahead on Saturday 24 October 2026, four months after the June date it had to give up because of the heat. Our event page has the background. Since then Regenbogen Potsdam e. V. has published the start, the main speaker and a short programme for the week leading up to it.
The demonstration
It starts at 14:00 at Alter Markt, the square in front of the Brandenburg state parliament and St Nicholas' Church. The organisers announce it as a bicycle and foot demonstration, so nobody needs a bike to join. The line on this year's poster is "Potsdam regenbogenbunt machen", roughly "make Potsdam rainbow-coloured". The route has not been published.
The announced speaker is Sophie Koch, the federal government's Commissioner for the Acceptance of Sexual and Gender Diversity. The cabinet appointed her in May 2025, as the LSVD reported at the time.
The days before
- Tuesday 20 October, 16:00 to 19:00: a bike workshop at ADFC Potsdam, Gutenbergstraße 6, to get bikes ready for the ride
- Wednesday 21 October, 19:00: Paint & Sip, an evening of painting, music and drinks at Pub a la Pub, Breite Straße 1. Free, with registration
- Friday 23 October, 19:00: a Polit-Talk with Sophie Koch at the Autonomes Frauenzentrum Potsdam, Am Alten Markt 6. Free, doors from 18:30, with registration
The organisers list all of it on their dates page and in an Instagram post that runs through each event. Their own description of the week is "queer, laut und politisch": queer, loud and political.
Potsdam, and Berlin next door
We list little in Potsdam itself: the shop Eroticats and Baggersee am Stern, a lake used as a cruising area. Berlin is next door and connected by S-Bahn and regional trains, and our Berlin city guide covers its bars, clubs and saunas for the evening after the ride.
Germany
Germany has allowed same-sex couples to marry since October 2017, and since 1 November 2024 the Self-Determination Act has let people change their gender entry by declaration at the registry office. The country scores 69.54 of 100 on ILGA-Europe's Rainbow Map. Our Germany page has the details.
