About this Event
Millport Pride is the first Pride held on the Isle of Cumbrae, a small island in the Firth of Clyde reached by ferry from Largs. The town has around a thousand residents.
The march assembles at Kames Bay and walks the seafront to Millport Pier, about a mile on flat ground and half an hour or so at the pace it goes. It is on foot only. No floats, cars, buses or trailers are allowed in it, which says as much about what kind of parade this is as about the roads.
The Pride market runs at Garrison House on Glasgow Street with community stalls, and there is a separate space for people aged twelve to twenty-five at the Cumbrae Youth Project. A quiet space with level access sits close to the pier, and accessible toilets are at the Garrison. Pubs along the front run their own entertainment across the weekend.
Getting here means the Largs ferry and then the bus or a walk into town, so the sailings are worth checking before setting out.
