Pride dei Campi Flegrei Sets Off from Baia at 18:00 on 19 September

The first Pride of the Campi Flegrei is on Saturday 19 September 2026 in Bacoli, and it is an evening march rather than an afternoon one. People gather at 17:00 at the Belvedere del Castello di Baia, at the arch named after Maurizio Valenzi, and the procession leaves at 18:00 behind the Murga Flegrea marching band. It goes along via Roma, via Risorgimento and via Sant'Anna to the Villa Comunale, where the closing music happens in the amphitheatre. Our entry for Pride dei Campi Flegrei 2026 carries the date and the place.

The earthquakes are part of it

The Campi Flegrei are the volcanic caldera west of Naples, and the ground has been rising and shaking there for years. Hundreds of households have been moved out of damaged buildings, and the organisers say evictions are now reaching people who have already lost their homes once. They called an extra open assembly in Pozzuoli on 11 September and invited the residents' committees of the displaced to it, with the stated aim of putting the housing question and the gaps in local health provision into the Pride itself. This is a demonstration about local services as much as about sexuality, and reading it as a parade misses what it is for.

A pact with a Pride nine hundred kilometres north

On 29 August the organisers published a joint declaration with Vercelli Pride in Piedmont, which falls on the same Saturday. Both documents use the same word, periphery, and the pact spells out what they mean by it: the hours and the money it costs somebody outside a big city to reach a clinic, a counselling service or anywhere they can be open. The flegrean manifesto calls that the commuting of rights and refuses it. One shared demand came out of the pact, that schools adopt the carriera alias, the Italian arrangement that lets a trans pupil be registered under the name they use. Vercelli Pride has written to the schools in its province; the Campi Flegrei organisers have put it to the councils of their own area.

Italy, and the scene nearby

Italy scores 24.11 of 100 on ILGA-Europe's Rainbow Index, one of the lowest in western Europe, and our Italy page sets out where the law stands on partnership, parenthood and hate crime. There is nothing on this site in Bacoli itself. Naples is about 25 km east along the bay and is where the nearest scene is: Depot Napoli, FreeID Queer Social Bar, Sauna Blu Angels and Cactus Club.

A week later, on 26 September, Giugliano Pride takes place 18 km away on the other side of Naples. Vercelli Pride, the other half of the pact, is on the same day as this one.
