Legnano holds its first Pride on Sunday 13 September 2026. It is a march followed by an afternoon on a square, and it takes about four hours end to end.
The gathering point is Piazza Monumento at 15:00, at the top of Corso Italia by the statue of Alberto da Giussano. The march crosses the centre and arrives at Piazza Mercato around 17:00, where a stage carries talks, music and performances and local associations run information stalls. Disability organisations and Amnesty International are among the groups with a stand, which follows from a platform that names disabled people alongside the LGBTQIA+ community.
The route does not go through Piazza San Magno, the main square, and that has been argued about in the town. A Fratelli d'Italia councillor asked why the march avoids the centre. The council's answer was that it does not set routes at all: organisers propose them and the questura assesses them for public order and safety.
The poster shows the Alberto da Giussano monument without its armour. The organisers read the missing armour as the defences people build against being judged, and using the town's emblem that way drew objections from the same quarter. Their reply was that they are queer people and Legnanesi both, and that the monument belongs to the whole town.
There is no public money in the day. The committee is an informal group of local collectives and associations, and it is paying for the Pride by crowdfunding, with a target of 8,000 euros. The campaign page sets out what that covers: the stage and the artists, the permits for occupying public ground, and the safety side, meaning the security plan, an ambulance and stewards on foot. It describes the day as an intersectional one built around the LGBTQIA+ community, women, disabled people and racialised people.
The committee's own argument for holding a Pride here is that the scene has drained towards Milan, twenty five minutes away, and that the Alto Milanese has kept almost nothing of its own.
