About this Event
Brianza Pride moves to a different town every year, and its eighth edition takes two. The march starts in Cologno Monzese and finishes in Brugherio, crossing the boundary between the metropolitan area of Milan and the province of Monza e Brianza on the way. The previous edition was held in Arcore.
The slogan is "La periferia di nessun⊗", with the o struck through. The organisers chose it to argue that the towns ringing a large city get written up as margins, and that the LGBTQIA+ community is pushed to the edge of political attention in much the same way. The struck-through vowel is their point about gendered language in Italian.
It is put together by a coalition rather than by one association: local LGBTQIA+ groups, two trade union branches, a rainbow families organisation, a parents' group covering Como and Lecco and several neighbourhood cooperatives.
