Madeira Pride takes place in Funchal on Saturday 26 September 2026, under the motto "O mundo que queremos começa aqui", the world we want starts here. The basics are on our Madeira Pride page; this is how the afternoon runs.
March first, then the arraial
The organisers have published two meeting points:
- 17:00 the Marcha do Orgulho LGBTQIA+ gathers on Largo do Colégio, the square beside the Colégio church in the city centre
- 18:00 the arraial starts on Largo do Socorro, the square in front of the Igreja do Socorro in the Zona Velha, the old town
The organisers present the arraial as the continuation of the march, an hour later and east of the centre in the old town. It has a stage. The first acts announced are the drag artist Alecia Fluffy and the singer Helena, with more names being added on the organisers' Instagram and Facebook pages in the days before.
Largo do Socorro sits next to the Barreirinha sea bathing complex, which is useful to know if you arrive in Funchal early and want the afternoon by the water before the march.
Who runs it
Madeira Pride is a non-profit organised by a group of local associations. The 2026 poster and posts name UMAR Madeira, Opus Gay Madeira, Sáficas and Equivalente among them, with Funchal's city council among the supporters. Both events are in public squares and free.
