Grenland Pride runs from Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 September 2026 across Skien and Porsgrunn, the two towns of the Grenland district in Telemark. The parade is on Saturday 19 September.
It assembles at Skien railway station from 14:00 and sets off at 15:00, walks through the town and finishes on the Handelstorget, where the parade show with speeches starts at 15:30. The after-party is at Ælvespeilet from 21:00. Anyone walking on their own account can simply turn up; organisations and groups that want their own block in the parade register a slogan with the organisers first.
The days either side are small and specific rather than a festival site. Thursday is a Butch Tribute workshop at Grenland Friteater. Friday is the Skæiv market from 16:00 at O'Learys. Sunday closes with cafe and drag bingo at Lykke Cafe and a queer sauna at Klosterøya. Three things sit outside the official four days: a rainbow mass at Borgestad kirke and a family gathering with the Miljøagentene at the DuVerden science centre, both on Sunday 12 September, and a banner and decoration workshop on Wednesday 16 September whose venue had not been announced when this was written. The organisers publish the programme as it firms up on grenlandpride.no.
Behind it is Skæiv, the queer organisation for Grenland, set up in 2023. It runs the rest of the year as well: a monthly trans cafe at Lykke Cafe, informal meet-ups and after-work evenings in Skien and Porsgrunn. The Pride week is what that organisation builds towards rather than an event brought in from outside, which is also why the programme reads as a list of rooms rather than a line-up.
There is no gay bar or club in Skien on our list, and for these four days the programme is the answer to that: the market at O'Learys, the cafe at Lykke and the sauna at Klosterøya are where people will be. Skien sits at the head of the Frierfjord, roughly two hours south west of Oslo by road or rail.
