Castelo Branco's Third Pride March Gathers at the Town Hall at 16:00 on 26 September

The third Marcha do Orgulho LGBTQIA+ de Castelo Branco is on Saturday 26 September 2026. The collective behind it, MOA, set the gathering for 16:00 in front of the Câmara Municipal, the town hall, and the march then goes through the streets of the centre.

MOA is an informal group of local people rather than a registered association. It asks anyone coming to bring a placard and says it will have some materials on the day for people who want to make one there. Its announcement ends with the line "As ruas também são nossas", the streets are ours too.

The evening is where most of this year's programme sits. The Arraial da Inclusão opens at 18:00 in the hall of the Amato Lusitano association and runs to 02:00, with free entry. The bill is a concert by LUZA and DJ sets from mamaiaf, FRÆNK, dj caustica and dj mike sebastian, covering hip hop, trap, dancehall, amapiano, batida, afro house, shatta and reggaeton. The collective also put out an open call for LGBTQIA+ makers and cooks to take a table at a queer market and a food area inside the arraial.

Neither part is ticketed. MOA runs a public fundraising campaign for each edition instead, and the one for this year is open.

We list no LGBTQ+ venues in Castelo Branco, which is the normal position for a district capital of this size in the Portuguese interior. For anyone travelling in for the day, that makes the town hall square and the Amato Lusitano hall the whole of it, and there is nowhere to carry on afterwards. Portugal scores 66.99 out of 100 on ILGA-Europe's Rainbow Index, and our Portugal country page sets out the legal position.

Two other marches are near enough to plan around. The Marcha LGBTQIA+ de Guimarães is on the same afternoon, 192 km to the north. The ninth Marcha de Viseu pelos Direitos LGBTQIA+ is on 10 October, 99 km away.
