The 6.ª Marcha pelos Direitos LGBTQIA+ de Leiria takes place on Sunday 20 September 2026. It is organised by Leiria, Marcha!, a local group, and its poster lists the municipality as a supporter. Our event page has the background on the march and the city.
The afternoon, hour by hour
- 15:30: people gather in the Jardim da Almuinha Grande.
- 16:30: the march leaves the garden and walks through the streets of Leiria to Praça Rodrigues Lobo.
- 18:00: on the square, the manifesto is read, an open microphone follows, and the afternoon closes with performances by drag queens, drag kings and DJs.
The times and the two end points come from the organisers' announcement of 1 September. They have not published a street by street route for this year.
The group frames this edition around building community and pooling strength so that rights already won are not lost, and calls for a Leiria that is "more visible, fair, intersectional and diverse". The march is a public demonstration, open to anyone who comes to the garden.

Portugal opened marriage to same-sex couples in 2010 and joint adoption in 2016. Since 2018 adults can change their legal gender and name at a registry office without a medical diagnosis, and practices meant to change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity have been a crime since 2024.
