Vesuvio Pride marches through Portici, on the coast south of Naples, on Saturday 5 September 2026. The date, the motto and the association behind it are on our Vesuvio Pride event page. What has been added since is a run of events in the town in the days before the parade, published by the organisers on 28 August under the heading that the walk towards the Pride has officially begun.
It started on 28 August with a board game evening at Gattòbistrot on Viale Privato L. D'Amore, and carried on the following night with a DJ set and drag at Vivarium on Piazza San Pasquale. On 30 August at 19:00 there is a book presentation at the Laboratorio Musicale Permanente on Via Zumbini, of "Un piano per rinascere" by the pianist Giuseppina Torre. On 1 September at 18:30 the Parco Urbano delle Emozioni hosts an evening built around art and emotion. On 3 September from 16:00 to 20:00 the Parco a Mare turns into a sports afternoon with a beach volleyball tournament and pilates and yoga sessions. On 4 September at 18:30 Vivarium hosts a second book presentation, "La mia battaglia d'amore" by Imma Battaglia, who is also the patron of this year's edition.
The parade itself still has no published route or start time. The organisers have announced neither, and nothing on the association's 2026 news page carries them, so anyone travelling for the day should check that page again in the last few days before it.
This edition was originally set for 18 July and moved to September because of the heat. The organisers said the change was made to allow people to take part safely, and that the extra time let them work with the town's newly elected administration. Their argument for the postponement was that "i diritti non vanno in vacanza", rights do not go on holiday.
The point of the whole project is that it does not happen in Naples. Vesuvio Pride moves to a different town around the volcano each year, and the towns it picks are the ones with no scene of their own. We list no venues in Portici, and that is the situation the march is about rather than a gap in our coverage.
