About this Event
Vesuvio Pride is the Pride of the towns around the volcano, and it moves to a different one each year. The seventh edition marches through Portici.
The parade was first set for July, and the organisers pushed it back because of the summer heat. It runs under the line "Non esistono periferie dei diritti", there are no outskirts of rights, which is the argument the whole project rests on: carrying the demands of the LGBTQIA+ community out of the regional capital and into the smaller towns of the province. This edition is dedicated to the memory of a local activist who died in June.
Behind it is an association based in Torre Annunziata that works in the area all year, running a helpline, legal advice and a film club, and belonging to the European Pride Organisers Association. Earlier editions were held in Pompei, Scafati and Castellammare di Stabia.
