Luxembourg City Has Two Gay Bars Again, and Pride Moves Back to Esch in 2027

Luxembourg City Has Two Gay Bars Again, and Pride Moves Back to Esch in 2027

For a few months in 2026, Luxembourg City had no gay bar at all. Letz Boys, which had opened in 2023, closed in February, and Le Journal reported in May that the capital's queer nightlife had been reduced to parties hosted by friendly venues. That changed in June, when two new bars opened within weeks of each other, as Le Quotidien reported on 28 July 2026. Anyone planning a trip with an older guide in hand should know that the address it lists for a gay bar may now belong to a different one.

Luxembourg itself is one of the easier countries in Europe for LGBTQ+ travellers. Same-sex couples have been able to marry since 2015, and Rosa Lëtzebuerg reported in May 2026 that the country again placed tenth on ILGA-Europe's Rainbow Map. Our Luxembourg country page covers the legal situation in detail.

Le Gléck on the Grand-Rue

Le Gléck took over the premises of the previous gay bar, at 60 Grand-Rue in the shopping streets of the Ville Haute. The name is the Luxembourgish word for luck, and the bar describes itself on its own website as a gay bar with the motto "Good drinks. No drama." It is a small cocktail bar rather than a club. According to the website it opens from 17:00 Wednesday to Saturday, until 01:00 midweek and 03:00 on Friday and Saturday, and from 16:00 to 22:00 on Sunday. It points to its Instagram account for changes, so check there before a Sunday visit.

Dorothy's in Clausen

Dorothy's is down in the valley, at 5 Rives de Clausen. The Rives de Clausen is the former Mousel brewery, turned into a strip of bars and restaurants, and it is where Luxembourg City goes out late. Dorothy's website lists opening hours of 18:00 to 01:00, Wednesday to Saturday. From the old town it is a walk down the hill.

Both bars are closed on Monday and Tuesday, and Dorothy's on Sunday as well. A weekend trip covers both easily. A trip that starts on a Monday does not.

Esch-sur-Alzette

Luxembourg's second city, south of the capital near the French border, has its own queer café. Café New Heaven sits on the pedestrian Grand-Rue in Esch and puts on drag shows at weekends.

The Rainbow Center

The community side of the scene runs through the Rainbow Center, run by the national association Rosa Lëtzebuerg at 19 rue du Saint-Esprit in the old town. It holds exhibitions, quiz nights, workshops and regular meetups for younger people, older people and trans and non-binary people, and entry to most of it is free. It is open from 12:00 to 18:00 Tuesday to Friday, until 20:00 on Wednesday, and from 14:00 to 18:00 on Saturday. For a visitor who wants to know what is on that week, it is the most reliable place to ask.

Pride now alternates between two towns

For many years Luxembourg Pride was held in Esch-sur-Alzette. In April 2026 Rosa Lëtzebuerg announced that from 2026 it would alternate each year between Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg City, a decision taken together with both towns. The 2026 edition was the first in the capital, with the street festival on 10 and 11 July on Place Guillaume II and Place Clairefontaine.

Under that rotation, Pride 2027 goes back to Esch-sur-Alzette. No dates for 2027 have been announced yet, so hold off on booking until the organisers publish them.
