Café New Heaven is the queer café in Esch-sur-Alzette, on the Grand-Rue in the middle of the town's pedestrian shopping street. Esch is Luxembourg's second city, about twenty minutes by train from the capital, and this is the only venue of its kind down there.
The draw is the drag and travesti shows, which run at weekends and pull people in from across the south of the country and over the French border. Between those it works as an ordinary neighbourhood café with themed music nights, including a recurring 1990s one. It is not a club and does not try to be.
The bar is part of the local queer infrastructure rather than only a business. Luxembourg Pride has used it for volunteer receptions and Rosa Lëtzebuerg has run inclusive dating events in the room. The same operator ran Café DaMa in Differdange before this, and the Facebook page that served that bar is now this one, which is why some directories still point at the old Differdange address.
