Lo de Carmen is a gay bar on Avinguda del Paral·lel. The room is lit red, with neon slogans on the walls (one of them reads "present is queer"), and the bar treats culture as part of the night: art exhibitions, drag shows and other events sit alongside the cocktails.
It calls its drag programme dragtivism, and the exhibitions lean towards queer art. It is a short walk from the main Gaixample streets and a good place for a drink before heading into them.
