La Federica opened on Carrer de Salvà in Poble-sec in 2015, the project of two friends who both happen to be called Albert. Albert Villaplana is a graphic designer; Albert Macaya previously worked in safaris. They bought the bar as soon as it came up for sale and have since made it one of the more distinctive spots on Barcelona's queer map.
The décor sets the tone from the door: vintage sixties furniture, pastel geometric wall patterns, the odd pink flamingo. It is colourful without being frantic, and the art exhibition changes regularly enough to give regulars a reason to look around. Drinks run from draught beer to gin and tonics, handcrafted cocktails, wine, and a margarita that earns a lot of repeat mentions. The food stays firmly in tapas territory and is taken seriously: cured pork from Can Gori or Barrotxa, tortilla de patatas, and cheeses brought in from the Pyrenees.
Thursdays belong to Lady Red Velvet's drag show. Themed parties take over every second Saturday. In between, the bar puts on art exhibitions, live music nights, and regular screenings of RuPaul's Drag Race. The crowd is mixed, local and international, and the staff get consistent praise in reviews, including for their pours.
Paral·lel metro (lines L2 and L3) is a short walk away.

Lovely little bar, brilliant shows and great art.
Queer as they come, La Federica is a cozy indie welcoming place at the centre of Parallel. They serve good cocktails, host drag shows, and endorse local artists with frequent exhibitions. And the bartenders are sexy! 🐺😁
After living in Barcelona for two years, I can confidently say that La Federica is my favorite bar in the city.
This cozy, independent bar boasts a friendly staff and fantastic cocktails. What truly sets it apart, though, is their deep engagement with the community. From showcasing local artists to collaborating with charitable causes, La Federica is more than just a bar—it’s a hub of positive impact.
I wish more entrepreneurs had the vision of the folks at La Federica! They’ve created a safe, cool space where you can have a lot of fun while also making a difference in the community.
If you’re a tourist, I highly recommend visiting on Thursdays to catch Lady Red Velvet’s outstanding and out-of-the-box shows. I go as often as I can and have had plenty of memorable Thursday evenings there.
Nice bar in Barcelona! Bartenders are super cool, they have a nice selection of beverages, including beers and spirits! Don't forget to ask for the vermouth, theirs is actually pretty good. Also, they do serve one of the best margaritas in town.
It has a great atmosphere. Most of the evenings they organize some kind of show such as live music, drag shows, gatherings to watch RuPaul's Drag Race and many other things... And when not, just talk to the rest of the people in the bar, who are usually super nice!
I am here alone by myself but I don't feel lonely at all! The staffs are super hot and friendly as well, they taught me some Espanol with the supererial passions. Love it and any gays who visit Barcelona should give it a go here.. also, if you want to enjoy the show of drag queens, maybe sure you book your ticket and learn Spanish!!!!!!
