A Day of Pride Nyköping 2026

03 Oct 2026, 10:30 - 22:00 | Nyköping, Sweden

About this Event

A Day of Pride puts the whole of Culturum, the culture house in central Nyköping, to work for one day. Talks, workshops, theatre and shows run in parallel across the library, the Olrogsalen hall and the concert hall, and entry is free throughout.

The library side takes the reading and the history: an author visit for younger readers, a conversation about the fight of Roma LGBTQI people for equal rights in the Nordic countries, and a lecture on Selma Lagerlöf's travels with Sophie Elkan. Olrogsalen has a discussion for sports parents about supporting a queer child in an inclusive club, and closes with a Pride sing-along.

In the concert hall, Musikteater Unna performs MARIA JOHANSDOTTER, a music theatre piece about a trans person living in Sweden under Karl XII. Two variety shows follow, one in a version made for children and one recommended for teenagers and up, and a live set rounds the night off.

Children aged three to eight have their own workshop a few streets away at Barnkulturcentrum on Prästgatan, where Cinema Queer runs a stop motion film session. The day is organised by the study association NBV together with the town's culture and library service, and the programme is added to as the date comes closer.
