LaLupe calls itself a bar for everyone, and the crowd bears that out. Queer regulars of every age sit alongside people who turned up for the karaoke. It has been open for thirteen years, and the same hands ran two earlier gay bars in Valladolid before it.
The programme runs to drag shows, cabaret, resident DJs and a karaoke night the bar cheerfully describes as unprofessional. There is a terrace, and the bar keeps more than twenty-seven gins to build its gin and tonics from.
The house rule, as the bar puts it, is that everybody is welcome except the intolerant.
