The Axel is Valencia's gay hotel, in a historic building on Carrer de Roteros in the Carme quarter of the old town, on a traffic-calmed street a few minutes from the Torres de Serrans. It is adults only.

It belongs to the Axel chain, which has run gay hotels since 2003 and describes them as heterofriendly, meaning the hotel is built around gay guests and everyone else is welcome in that context rather than the other way round.

The location puts it inside the old-town half of the scene: La Carmen is a few doors away and the Carme bars are on the doorstep, while Ruzafa and the clubs are a walk or a short taxi across the dry riverbed park.
