Hannya is a club for women on Carrer de Sueca in Ruzafa, and the only venue in Valencia built around that. Its own claim is bigger: that it is the only pub for women in Spain. Its wording for who it is for is all women, lesbian, bisexual, trans and straight, and only women. DJs, cocktails and a table football in the back.
The programme goes well past a bar night. FLINTA parties, an open mic, shibari workshops, and a sapphic cultural series put together with lecturers from the University of Valencia. Bookings for some of it run through WhatsApp.
Valencia's queer nightlife is heavily male, and Hannya is the standing answer to that, which is worth knowing before you plan a night in Ruzafa.
