Covers is a bar on Calle del Río de la Pila, the street that carries most of Santander's late drinking. Alega's scene guide points it out by the Rolling Stones tongue painted high on the wall, which is how regulars find it on the climb up.
It is a rock and pop bar and one of the two dependably queer rooms in the city. There is a resident drag artist and a resident DJ, and the bar runs its own show nights. Its posts carry the rainbow and trans flags and the LGBTIQ+ tag, and it takes part in the Río de la Pila Pride street party each summer.
The room is small and the crowd is local. It works as a first-drink bar as much as a late one, and the kitchen side of it runs to breakfast as well as cocktails.
