Bako Kluba is a late bar in the Parte Vieja, on one of the narrow streets that carry the pintxo crawl. Its own line for the place is a drinks bar for people who want to be, to dance and to laugh.
Drag is the house form. The bar books queens for its weekend nights and runs petardeo sessions on Spanish pop, the kind of night where the whole room knows the words. It opens at weekends and takes private parties by arrangement.
The room is small and red, and the posters are black and red to match. It is a bar rather than a club, so the dancing happens between the tables.
The bar has completed the Queer Destinations training programme for hospitality businesses, and a Donostia queer collective has publicly thanked it for its part in keeping the city an LGBTIQ+ one.
