About this Event
Bellota Queer is the LGBTI romería of Extremadura, and its second edition takes it to Pasarón de la Vera, in the Cáceres half of the Vera valley. A romería is a country walk that ends in a picnic and a party, and this one keeps that shape. People come with a peña and a pañuelo and head out to the site together.
An LGBTI hiking club from the region takes part in the walk, and the day closes with the Bellota Queer Festival, with musicians from Extremadura and from the rest of Spain. Associations in the village help put the programme together.
The organisers run it as rural Pride. The first edition was held in Cabezuela del Valle, and the argument behind both is that a village is somewhere to live visibly rather than somewhere to leave.
