The CanCanaria Social

The CanCanaria Social is a weekly meetup for people who would rather not spend their first night in Maspalomas working out where to go. It runs at the Yumbo Centre and it is hosted, so nobody has to walk in and introduce themselves cold. The host does the introductions and answers questions about the island and the scene.

A ticket covers a welcome cava with tapas and a first drink, plus a booklet of discount vouchers for bars, restaurants and shops in the area. Part of the evening moves to a featured local bar, and the organiser picks a different one each week, which is the point for anyone who has only seen the two or three places their hotel suggested.

Groups stay small, usually fifteen to twenty people, and grow during Pride and the other festival weeks. Locals come as well as visitors, and it is open to LGBTQ+ people and allies alike. CanCanaria also runs the Adventure Week and an excursion programme across Gran Canaria.
