About this Event
The Carnaval Internacional de Maspalomas is the biggest party the municipality throws all year. The theme for this edition is "Un Mundo de Juguetes", a world of toys, chosen by public vote ahead of "Mundos marinos" and "La era digital".
The Centro Comercial Yumbo is where the carnival and the gay scene meet. The main stage goes up on the square and carries the Gala Drag Queen, the competition the carnival is known for well beyond the island, along with the queen elections and the murga contests.
Away from the Yumbo the programme takes over the streets: the grand parade through Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas, the Día del Turista, and the Entierro de la Sardina that closes the carnival with fireworks. The Canary Islands government lists it as a Fiesta de Interés Turístico.
The town hall publishes the detailed programme closer to the date. So far the dates and the theme are what is fixed.
