The Gaylic sits on Calle Claudio Alvargonzález in Cimavilla, the old fishermen's quarter, a short walk from the sports port. It opened in early 2025 and describes itself as an LGBTQ+ space with a Gaelic Spanish fusion, which in practice is an Irish bar layout with a Spanish cocktail list.
It is one of the few queer places in the city that works by day as well as by night. The bar puts the aim as a safe and diverse daytime space that fits into ordinary life in Gijón rather than only into a night out, and its signature cocktails are what it is best known for.
There is a standing cultural programme: monthly themed series, work with local artists and collectives, and information events run together with XEGA, the Asturian LGBTIAQ+ association. A terrace facing the port and a licence for a proper queer nightclub are both stated ambitions.
