El Tremendo is on Calle Buen Suceso, in the middle of the Ruta de los Vinos, the run of bars that Gijón works its way along on a night out. It describes itself as an inclusive venue and a safe space where you can meet people with something in common over a drink and some music.
It is smaller and calmer than the club end of the scene, nearer to a wine bar with a soundtrack than a night out in itself. There are tables outside on the street and you are allowed to bring your own food in.
The emphasis the bar puts on itself is inclusive rather than exclusively gay, which fits where it sits: a queer bar on a street that everybody in the city walks down.
