The Oficina Municipal de Apoyo y Asesoramiento LGTB, which the town calls FuenlaLGTBrada, is Fuenlabrada's own LGBT advice service. It is run by the youth department of the town hall and sits in the Espacio Joven La Plaza, the historic former municipal building on Plaza de España.
The office exists because the local LGBT community asked for representation inside the town's institutions. What it does is practical. Anyone can come for information and orientation. There is health advice and referral, legal advice for individuals and for organisations, and help finding an association to join. The office keeps a documentation service with material on sexual orientation and gender identity, and it puts people who are in the same situation in touch with each other through peer groups.
Staff also go into schools and colleges to run sessions with pupils, and the office works alongside associations, NGOs and other municipal services rather than on its own.
Support is available in person at the office, by phone and by email. This is an advice centre rather than a social venue, so it is the address for information, paperwork and contacts, not for an evening out.
