Modesto is a drinks bar on Barrenkale, the same Casco Viejo street as Pavoneo and Manolita La Primera. Vermouth is the house drink early on and cocktails take over later.
There is a small dancefloor and a terrace out on the street. The music runs from electronic through rock and roll to Spanish pop. The bar programmes more than music: art on the walls, readings, the occasional live set. A Basque craft beer is on tap.
The crowd is mixed and covers most of the queer alphabet, with regulars who have been coming for years.
