Arctic Pride runs for a week in Tromsø, well inside the Arctic Circle, in the season when the sun has gone down for the winter. The parade goes through the dark and usually through snow.
The festival carries a Sámi name as well, Árktalaš Pride. Past programmes have included a workshop on queer Sámi symbols, a queer art market, a strand for young people and a Pride House alongside the parade.
Tromsø is a university town in northern Norway. Arctic Pride works with the university and with the town's international film festival.
