About this Event
Aosta Pride is the Pride of the Valle d'Aosta, organised by the regional Arcigay association Queer VdA. Last year there was a cultural week and no march. This year the parade is back.
The theme is "A cresta alta", which means with the crest held high. The poster turns the Valdostan rooster, a symbol of the region, into a rainbow bird with a tall red crest.
The march gathers in Piazza Arco d'Augusto, beside the Roman arch. The route is about 2.3 km, flat and fully accessible, with shade and benches along the way. There is a quiet zone at the back, a Pride bike with the music turned down halfway along, earplugs on hand and a reserved area near the stage for disabled participants. The speeches at the end are interpreted into Italian Sign Language.
The parade closes a Pride week of theatre, cinema, talks, art and workshops at venues around town, including the Teatro Giacosa and the University of Valle d'Aosta. Party political banners are asked to go at the back of the march.
