About this Event
This is the first Christopher Street Day in the Odenwaldkreis, a rural district in southern Hessen between Darmstadt and the Bavarian border. It is being run by a group that is still in the process of founding itself as an association.
People gather at the station and bus station in Michelstadt and the march sets off from there through the town, followed by a street festival. The festival site was moved within Michelstadt after conditions changed, so the flyer to go by is the current one.
A first CSD in a district of this kind is a different proposition from one in a city. There is no gay bar in the Odenwald and no queer centre, and the point of the day is that people who live here see each other in public. The organisers have asked for volunteers for the awareness team, which is the shape a small first edition usually takes.
Michelstadt is on the Odenwaldbahn from Darmstadt and Hanau, and the trains stop at the station where the day starts.
