About this Event
A film screening at Bar jeder Sicht, the bar of the queer culture and community centre in Mainz, as part of its Wednesday cinema. This evening shows Rose, an Austrian and German drama from 2026 that runs about 90 minutes.
The film is set shortly after the Thirty Years' War. A soldier arrives in a remote village and claims an abandoned farm as an inheritance, and behind the male role is a woman who has lived as a man for years. The story follows what happens when the village wants her to marry, and it draws on historical cases of women who lived as men.
