Queer Pride Freital is the first event of its kind in the town. It is put on by Queeres Freital, a local group that came together during 2026 and describes itself as an alliance without party affiliation.
The motto is "Zu bunt, um rechts zu sein. Wir sind auch Freital!", roughly: too colourful to be right wing, and we are Freital too. The second half of that is the point of the day, a claim on the town by the people who live in it.
Freital lies immediately south of Dresden, at the edge of the Landkreis Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge, and has around 39,000 inhabitants. Dresden and Pirna both hold their own CSDs earlier in the year and are a short train ride away.
