Freilassing sits on the Salzach right against the Austrian border, across the water from Salzburg, and its CSD is only in its second year. Three groups carry it together: the local CSD initiative, the queer association of the Berchtesgadener Land and the one in neighbouring Traunstein.
The two districts run a shared Pride season across the summer, with excursions, talks and smaller meet-ups, and the Freilassing CSD closes it. One of this year's excursions went to the Dachau memorial for a guided tour on queer lives under the Nazi regime, which gives a fair idea of how the organisers pitch the season.
For a town of a few thousand people, a second edition is the point at which a CSD stops being a one-off.
