Delmenhorst holds its second Christopher Street Day after a first edition last year that brought well over a thousand people onto the streets of a town that had never had one. The organisers expect a similar turnout again.
The demonstration gathers on the Hotelwiese and takes a longer route through the town than last year. It ends with a rally on the Marktplatz, with art, music and political speeches.
The day nearly lost its footing over the summer, when promised public funding was withdrawn because a demonstration was not considered politically neutral. Donations from the community closed the gap within days, and the CSD goes ahead as planned.
