Axel Hotel Berlin opened in 2009 in Schöneberg, the district that has been the centre of Berlin's LGBTQIA+ life since the early 20th century. The hotel occupies an emblematic building on Lietzenburger Straße, close to the bars, clubs and specialist shops that define the neighbourhood, including Tom's Bar and Hafen.
The hotel has 86 rooms and a comprehensive wellness centre with sauna, steam bath, hammam and jacuzzi. Berlin's broader LGBTQIA+ infrastructure, including Christopher Street Day and numerous club venues, makes it one of the most visited cities for gay travel in Europe, and the Axel Hotel provides a committed base within the historic core of that community.

We just spent four nights at Axel Hotel Berlin celebrating our fifth anniversary and once again, it reminded us why we keep coming back.
As loyal club members who have stayed at several Axel Hotels across Europe, we truly appreciate the consistency, atmosphere, and welcoming energy that define the brand. Berlin delivers all of that and more.
The team made us feel genuinely valued as returning guests, and the vibe was exactly what we love about Axel: stylish, relaxed, inclusive, and effortlessly cool.
Celebrating such a special date here made it even more memorable. We’ll definitely be back — as always.
Great stay at Hotel Axel Berlin! The staff were friendly, and my room was spotless, super comfortable and well-equipped. The hotel’s location is perfect, close to attractions and nightlife. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of fresh options. I loved the welcoming atmosphere! Highly recommended for anyone visiting Berlin.
I had an amazing stay at Axel Hotel Berlin. From the moment I arrived, the staff were friendly, professional, and made me feel welcome. The hotel has a modern design and a relaxed atmosphere that made my stay very comfortable.
My room was clean, cozy, and well-equipped with everything I needed. The location is perfect close to shops, restaurants, and the best spots in Berlin.
I really enjoyed my time here and would happily stay again. Highly recommended!
Breakfast wasn’t worth of the price (14 euros). Some days there were juice available, some days not. Same with different kinds of breads. Room was ok even tho it smelled a bit of dump everytime we came in. Spa section went under a construction just one day after us arriving. Staff was polite and helpful.
My stay at Axel Hotel Berlin was extremely disappointing from beginning to end. I booked through TUI and was completely misinformed about what to expect. The hotel is very sleazy and outdated, nothing like the impression given when booking. The rooms look tired, worn, and in serious need of refurbishment. In my original room, the shower bath leaked all over the floor, making it unsafe and unusable, and the bathroom light was broken, flashing like a rave in the toilet. I had no choice but to ask for another room, which should never be necessary at this price point.
To make matters worse, a €150 deposit was taken on arrival, which was never advertised or mentioned by either TUI or the hotel beforehand. This felt misleading and unacceptable. The door signs were also distasteful and added to the overall uncomfortable and tacky atmosphere. Overall, the hotel failed on comfort, maintenance, and transparency. I would not return and would strongly advise others to think carefully before booking, especially through TUI.
