ART Hotel Connection is a small boutique hotel on the third floor of a 1910 Art Nouveau apartment building in Schöneberg's Regenbogenkiez, close to Nollendorfplatz and a short walk from Wittenbergplatz. The ground floor of the building has hosted queer nightlife since the 1970s, and the hotel itself opened in the mid-1990s as one of Berlin's few gay community-run hotels before becoming a design-focused boutique property open to all tolerant guests in 2009.
It has sixteen individually decorated rooms, from single budget rooms to a junior suite, each non-smoking with an en-suite bathroom, a flat-screen television and a DVD player. The breakfast room and lounge are done out in deep magenta with zebra print chairs and a working fireplace, and breakfast is a buffet with fresh bread, cold cuts, cheese, eggs and yoghurt, with vegan options on request.
The hotel describes itself as open for the queer community and, as it puts it, "of course all tolerant people." Preserved stucco ceilings and double doors from the original 1910 building are still visible throughout, and dogs are welcome for a cleaning fee.
