Suedblock is a queer cafe, bar and event space at Kottbusser Tor in Kreuzberg, a few doors from Moebel-Olfe and SO36. It runs from breakfast through to the night: food, cake, a beer garden in summer, and a programme of concerts, readings, parties, quiz nights, karaoke and Sunday brunch.
What sets it apart is the mix. The project was built to serve the whole neighbourhood, so the queer crowd sits alongside Turkish and Arabic-speaking neighbours from the surrounding blocks, and the programme reflects that. Social projects use the space too, including free advice sessions.
The venue is step-free with an accessible toilet, which is rare in this part of Kreuzberg.
