Since its establishment in 2005, Grosse Freiheit 114 has been a cornerstone of Berlin's queer nightlife. Located in the heart of Friedrichshain, this venue has evolved from a traditional gay bar into an inclusive "Queer & Friends" space that welcomes all genders and identities. The bar combines a cosy front area, perfect for enjoying well-crafted cocktails and beers, with a more adventurous side. It remains the only bar in the district to feature a spacious darkroom and cruising area, making it a popular destination for those seeking a sex-positive and open-minded atmosphere. Whether you are looking for legendary 80s parties, energetic DJ sets, or a relaxed evening in a diverse community, Grosse Freiheit 114 offers a welcoming environment with a friendly staff and a strict policy against any form of discrimination.

One of my favourite bars in town, especially after the renovation! There are queer events like Quiz, Bingo and DJ Nights as well as really well made cocktails! Sending love to the whole team!
I went by myself for a quick drink early on and ended up staying on longer than I had planned. The cocktails are delicious and the bartender is simply the best: extremely good at making custom drinks and super friendly. I have nothing but great things to say about this bar
Amazing! I guess most of the reviews are old and not accurate to the place now. Waiter was super friendly, explaining us about beers types, always with a nice smile at his face. The place is super clean, the dark room is big. Very relaxed people, a place where you can chat with friends or meeting new ones. Good music and not that loadyou can really have a conversation. 2 spaces, the front for non smokers. The other one for smokers. Then a big dark room with a few cabinets. Many space fir seating and tables. It surprised me because some bad reviews I was expecting nothing, we just came because it was nearby our hotel.
Cosy place, good for a late evening drink with friends. Not much special about it, and around the toilets a bit messy.
The wall decor at Große Freiheit looks like someone tried to embody the male archetype through kitschy tourist trinkets and quirky found objects, a mix more likely to make you chuckle than marvel. It’s questionable who actually loves it, but the atmosphere is friendly, the crowd diverse, and the vibe relaxed.
