Manticore Spa is a gay sauna for men on the top floor of 2 Union Street in Plymouth city centre, in a building it shares with a casino. The way in is the glass door on the ground floor, where you press the buzzer marked Manticore Spa. It says it opened in 2013.
There is a hardwood sauna for about twelve people, a steam room for about twenty-five, private cabins, a cinema room with tiered seating and a licensed bar. From the lounge and gallery on the top floor the view runs across the city towards Cornwall. The lighting inside is low and blue.
The event nights include naked parties, a blackout night, underwear and jock nights, a social for trans women and their admirers, and a night aimed at straight and bi men. Anyone who looks under 25 needs photo ID.
