Atlantica sits on Market Street in the centre of Newport, next to the covered market. It is a bar downstairs and a nightclub upstairs.
The ground floor is the pub half of it, with a pool table, a dart board, karaoke and DJs. The bigger room upstairs is the club floor. The snack bar next door is run by the same people.
There is a weekly LGBTQ+ night, drag acts and live musicians are booked regularly, and the venue has hosted Queer Pride After Dark as well as parties tied to the city's Pride weekend. It also marks World AIDS Day.
Newport has no other venue running a queer programme on this scale, so this is where a good deal of the city's LGBTQ+ nightlife now happens.
