Richmond Tea Rooms is an Alice in Wonderland tea room in the middle of the Gay Village, and it commits to the theme completely. The rooms include an enchanted forest hung with lights and an orangery.
Afternoon tea is the core of it: sandwiches, cakes and pastries made in house, with a long list of teas and vegan and gluten-free options available daily.
The evening programme is where it turns into a Village venue rather than a tea shop. Mad Hatter's Tea Parties are drag and cabaret nights with Manchester queens, there are High Tease burlesque evenings, and a Pride special runs in August. Those events are over-18s. The Lodge Bar, a small speakeasy-style bar, sits within the same building.
