About

The Molly House takes its name from the eighteenth-century molly houses, the taverns where men could meet other men. It is a vintage-styled bar and tea room over two floors on Richmond Street, with an outdoor terrace.

Food is Spanish and South American tapas, ordered at the bar rather than at the table. The drinks side is the unusual part for the Village: cask ale and a rotating range of craft beer from northern breweries, among them RedWillow, Torrside and Neighbourhood, alongside the wine and cocktails. The beer is taken seriously here in a way it is not elsewhere on the strip.

It is quieter and more grown-up than most of the Village, and works as well for an afternoon as for a night out. There are darts, pool and table football, and live music.
