New York New York has been on Bloom Street for over thirty years and calls itself the party palace of the Gay Village. It is two bars in one building: Queens, the smaller and quieter side, and the main room behind it.
The main room is the loud one. A resident DJ plays most nights, the music is hands-in-the-air singalong pop, and drag acts host. It is flamboyant by design and does not apologise for it.
The bar puts serious work into charity fundraising, and describes itself as a safe place for the LGBT+ community and their allies.
