Centre Stage is tucked into the back streets behind Canal Street, on Bloom Street, and makes no attempt to be current. It calls itself Manchester's leading venue dedicated to yesteryear, and describes itself as a dive bar.
The programme is camp cabaret and nostalgia: drag queens with attitude, musical theatre numbers and old tunes. The crowd sings along and knows the words.
It is small and unpretentious, and works as a stop between the bigger venues as much as a night in itself.
