Bar Pop opened on Canal Street in September 2013. It is independent and LGBTQ+ owned and run, and it shares an owner with The Church, a few streets away on Chorlton Street.
Drag is the centre of the programme. There is a weekly cabaret night and a drag brunch, alongside karaoke and DJ nights, and the bar runs its own Manchester Pride programme.
It fundraises for LGBTQ+ charities through the year, among them George House Trust, the Albert Kennedy Trust, Mermaids and the LGBT Foundation, and says it has passed £200,000 raised since opening.
