Flame is Luton's gay bar and nightclub, on Wellington Street in the town centre opposite the Magistrates Court. It opened in 2002 and moved into this larger building in 2006. It calls itself Luton's longest established gay venue.
Downstairs holds NaN's Bar, the main room and the dance floor, all air conditioned. Shirley's chill-out lounge is upstairs. Outside there is a terrace and a heated courtyard for smokers. There is a pool table, and karaoke nights are a regular fixture.
The crowd is local and mixed, and the club makes a point of the welcome it gives: it describes itself as the safest gay club in the country. Luton station is about a ten minute walk away.
