Sailors is the biggest gay sauna in East London, spread over four floors on Commercial Road in Limehouse, a minute from the DLR. With Chariots gone from Vauxhall, it is one of only a handful left in the city.
Facilities are a dry sauna, steam rooms, a spa pool, private relaxation cabins, darkened cruising areas, a TV lounge, a cafe and snack bar, and around 150 lockers. It also has a roof garden, which is close to unique among London saunas and the reason a lot of people prefer it in summer.
It is next door to The White Swan, and it gets noticeably busier once the pub closes. Monday is a bears, cubs and chubs day. Reviews consistently describe the door and the room as unfussy about who turns up, including for trans visitors and first-timers.
